Productive and Mushroomy Weekend

What a great weekend! Took Friday off and started working on the barn again in the sunny fall weather. Got some nit picky things done, and then on Saturday went in to Seattle to have a nice day in the city. Helped Bob with some tree removal in the AM, then went to the PNW [...]

A new beginning.

Last year was pretty much the pits, so I’m going to start fresh. So far, living at Bearwoods has gotten pretty routine. New batteries and LED lights let me enjoy the trailer life a bit more. A new charge cable for the truck lets me charge the trailer batteries when the sun can’t do it. [...]

Topped out!

Finally! I topped out the ‘Barn’ as I am now calling it, yesterday about mid afternoon. All the rafters in place and a tarp over it for the rain which began in earnest about 5PM. Had about an inch of rain last night and not a drop of rain on my dry construction. Yay! Now [...]

Finished Concrete Work.

Finally finished the concrete work on the well house. What a pain! But it was a challenge and I met it. Started working on the floor system of the portion of the well house that is post and beam supported. The building sits on a partial slope, so about half is concrete foundation and floor, [...]

Preliminary home design

Just finished the prelim design for my current house plan. So far the interior works, and the exterior works for me also. I’m using a program called SketchUp for this part of the project. It’s fairly easy to create 3D models with it, though logs are not the easiest. This model has about 500 sq. [...]
